Mixed Media

Abstract painting is mainly about the paint—the process, the marks on the support.  It is also about color, shape, and texture.  Each painting needs all three elements, but one should dominate.  I enjoy creating something beautiful from nothing (a white surface) and watching how each layer of a painting depends upon the other and influences the final result.

When using Mixed Media in abstract work, I limit my use to not more than three different media and incorporate it so that it is part of the detail seen up close but not readily apparent from a distance.
